Bilberry, Vaccinium uliginosum is a low-growing shrub found on moors and mountainsides. Bilberries are light-blue, juicy, tasty, and pleasantly sweet.
As summer draws to an end, it is a popular family pastime to go into the uplands to pick wild bilberries. The berries are traditiionally used for jam or as a treat with skyr (traditional Icelandic milk-curd), and a delicious dessert served with cream and sugar. Bilberries are crammed with vitamin C and antioxidants wich has made them an even more popular food in recent years.
64° Reykjavik Distillery Uliginosum Liqueur is handmade from selected bilberries in limited quantities. Each bottle is labelled with the year, batch, and bottle number. Uliginosum Liqueur is good neat, on the rocks, or in a variety of mixed drinks and cocktails.
